Decorative Pieces
My decorative pieces are all one of a kind. Each piece starts as a lump of clay spinning on my wheel head. When the basic shape is right it is left to dry to a leather hard stage and then trimmed and sometimes altered to add variety to the basic cylindrical form. Faceting with a cheese cutter, paddling with a plank of wood, fluting with a melon baller, sculpting birds, and other figures by hand, and brush painting on a smooth clay canvas are the techniques I use to make my work unique and my own.

Single color glaze application:
Oatmeal, tenmoku (dark brown), blue rutile and turquoise green.
Multi color glaze application:
Oatmeal with blue rutile, oatmeal with blue rutile and tenmoku, tenmoku with blue rutile, tenmoku with blue/green seafoam, bone white with black brush painted grasses and orchids.
Colors will vary from one kiln firing to another.
All my work is dishwasher safe, microwaveable and can be used in the oven. Care instructions for oven use will be included in the shipment.
